It’s another record-breaking month at TMD! For the first time ever, we recycled more than a tonne of end-of-use garments on behalf of our clients.
As part of our efforts to become more sustainable, we offer our customers a garment recycling service. End-of-use, damaged and out-of-date uniform doesn’t need to go to landfill. It can be sent to us, and we will manage its sustainable & responsible disposal.
Demand for this service has grown over the years. We now bag up unwanted uniform for some of the UK’s best-known brands, including Haven Entertainments, Legoland Windsor Resort, Chester Zoo and Warner Brothers Studio Tours. For the first time ever this month, we bagged up more than 200 eight-kilogram bags. That’s more than a metric tonne and a half of clothing saved from landfill!
The safest way to recycle garments
Garment recycling isn’t just good for the planet; it’s good for brand security, too.
When clients undergo a rebrand, any garments with their old logo will need to be fully withdrawn from use. This process needs to be managed in a controlled manner, with no risk of old branded garments falling back into circulation.
We securely bag up all unwanted uniform in zip-tied sacks, then hand them to our recycling partner for secure disposal. Every bag is signed in and out to ensure full transparency, traceability and security.
A simple, sustainable end-of-use solution
True sustainability needs to cover the whole life cycle of a product, from raw material sourcing to disposal. Textile recycling technology has evolved over the years, and very little needs to go to waste. The uniform we recycle gets transformed into all sorts of new products, from furniture to building materials, insulation and fresh polyester threads. It’s a cost-effective service that we’re proud to offer.
At Taylor Made Designs, we have already invested in carbon-neutral deliveries, fully recyclable packaging and sustainable raw materials. We don’t claim to have all the answers, but we’re proud to have found another way to help our valued clients cut waste, lessen their carbon footprint and improve their sustainability metrics. Always caringly responsible.
